Breast Reduction

Breast Reduction

Very large and/or sagging breasts often impair a woman's self esteem, do not match her body and may restrict her in many situations.
A large breast can cause spinal pain and posture problems. The result of the operation should be a breast that matches the body proportions in size.
Using a special technique the operational scars are very short and placed in such a way as to be hardly visible. Also todays techniques result in a long lasting sturdy form of the new breast.
If treated in time, psychological impairments can be avoided (insecurity, lack of communication, inferiority complex) But also organic disturbances like posture problems, muscle tension in back or neck, tie furrows and painful bruises on the shoulders can be avoided.

Breast Reduction (operation)

Breast reduction or breast tightening demand especially detailed consultation and planning. It is not possible to perform the surgery following any pattern or standard procedure. It is crucial to analyse the breast individually and to discuss the desired size and shape with the patient. The breast gland tissue should have been checked at preventive medical checkups regularly.
Breast reduction and breast tightening is performed at our clinic under gernerfal anaesthetic. Before the operation the necessary incisions, the position of the nipple and the new breast are sketched while the patient is in an upright position. During the surgery the nipple is put into place first. Special attention is given to the good circulation of the blood vessels and the sensibility of the nerves.
After this the breast gland tissue and the fat tissue is shifted so that the entire breast achieves its new position. When reducing the size of the breast at this step tissue is removed. After the breast has reached its new form by employing self dissolving seams the surplus skin is removed.
The skin seam is made with stitches which have to be removed after 1 to 2 weeks. At the edge of the wound drainage tubes are placed for draining out any wound secretion. The drains will be removed on the first or second day after surgery. At the end of the surgery a wide elastic bandage is placed which will give the breast support.
